Electronic Tax Return Revolution

The collection of income tax returns has ended, and now is the time to think about that part of the year when most Poles and residents of Poland pay taxes. Every year, in April, the number of employees filing tax returns in an online form, rather than in person or by mail, increases, and this year is the same. In 2019, income tax returns, which contain information about the income of taxpayers, were sent via the Internet to 16 million people. Almost 80% of all documents were digitized – today, it is a real record.

In 2019, payers in Poland can use a new special online platform for filing declarations. For the first time in the history, the residents of Poland were able to do this easily and quickly, since most of the information was already entered into the system. All that had to be done was to verify the data and agree to accept the document, which replaced the usual tax return. The new platform is relevant for filing PIT-37 and PIT-38 declarations.

Thanks to this platform, Poland objectively became the leader among all users of innovative electronic systems. The online platform was named one of the most advanced and most modern European solutions, so an unequivocal decision was made to expand and develop the resource. Next year, it will be possible to submit declarations of other types, including PIT-36, PIT-36L, and PIT-28.

As noted by officials, you will not be fined this year, even in the absence of a filed declaration or the non-acceptance of an already completed online declaration. Fiscal bodies are already provided with a sufficient amount of information for self-payment of taxes based on the data obtained. However, in this case, you simply will not have information about the benefits to which you may be entitled – this is a reason to check your tax information.
